My journey into strength coaching started with a setback.

In 2012, I tore my ACL playing football (soccer)—before that, I’d never even stepped foot in a gym. That injury forced me into rehab and introduced me to strength training. The process was eye-opening, and it changed the way I viewed recovery and performance. Years later, just as I was chasing my dream of running a gym and training facility, I tore the same ACL again.

This time, I didn’t just want to recover—I wanted to come back stronger. That’s when I fully committed to the Starting Strength method. Following the program not only helped me rebuild after surgery, but it also took me to a level of strength and resilience I didn’t know was possible. It made me realize that strength is the foundation of everything—from recovery to athletic performance to living a healthier, more capable life.

Now, through AKL Strength, I help everyday people experience that same transformation. Whether you’re getting back into training, starting for the first time, or chasing bigger goals, my focus is simple:

I’ve been a qualified Personal Trainer through the New Zealand Institute of Sport, worked in Strength & Conditioning for local football teams, and have over a decade of hands-on experience training in the gym. But more than anything, I know what it’s like to start from scratch—and I know how powerful the right training program can be.
